Louis Armstrong

Quando, nel 1919, il pioniere del jazz King Oliver si trasferì a Chicago, il suo pupillo Louis Armstrong prese il suo posto nel complesso di fiati della Kid Ory’s Band a New Orleans. Qui Armstrong, che aveva cominciato cantando per le strade della città, mosse i suoi primi passi da musicista professionista e iniziò quella che fu una lunga carriera. The jazz pioneer King Oliver moved to Chicago in 1919, and his pupil Louis Armstrong took his place in the Kid Ory’s Band in New Orleans. For the young Armstrong, who had started his musical career singing in the streets, this was one of the first professional engages. He had a long and successful career, and his charismatic figure is still well known inside and outside the jazz circles. In 1957 he recorded with The All Stars a popular jazz standard, East of the Sun (and West of the Moon).
