In un’altro passo del discorso ai cittadini di Ahmedabad, Gandhi parlò della forza distruttrice della violenza: “I palazzi distrutti erano proprietà pubblica, e saranno ricostruiti a nostre spese. Le perdite dei negozi che resteranno chiusi, sono perdite per noi.“
Finita la guerra e la violenza, è tempo di ricostruire. Un esempio può essere il Pont Notre Dame di Parigi, citato anche da Victor Hugo ne I Miserabili (Les misérables), ponte che fu riprogettato da Jean Résal e inaugurato dal Presidente della Repubblica francese Raymond Poincaré nel 1919.

In another passage of the speech to the citizens of Ahmedabad, Gandhi refers to the destructive force of violence: “The buildings burnt down were public property and they will naturally be rebuilt at our expense. The loss due to the shops remaining closed is also our loss.“ After the violence and the destruction of the war, it is time to rebuild. An example is the Pont Notre Dame in Paris, also mentioned in Victor Hugo’s novel Les Misérables. The bridge was redesigned by Jean Résal to replace the old and dangerous construction, and was inaugurated by the president of France Raymond Poincaré in 1919.
